Dr. Gaurav Mishra is a board-certified Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist.

Dr Gaurav Mishra grew up in Bangalore, India and attended the M S. Ramaiah Medical College graduating with an MD equivalent degree (MBBS) in 2007. He immigrated to the USA in 2009 upon acceptance into the psychiatry residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. There he developed a passion of working with children and families and this inspired him to train further in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. He completed this training in 2014 at Children’s National Medical Center / George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Following completion of training he began work in the rural underserved region of El Centro in Imperial County, CA. 

Since moving to San Diego, he served as the Chief Behavioral Health Officer at San Ysidro Health, a large FQHC in San Diego, CA between 2019 and 2025. Dr. Mishra has continued to improve services for the underserved populations of South and East San Diego County. He is taken on the challenge of significant culture change at his organization and department working on improving staff and patient satisfaction. This has resulted in a significant increase in staff retention, new hiring and expanding of services to new regions served by San Ysidro health. The team has grown to over 70 clinicians and a total of 200 team members in the last 6 years. He has also expanded access to trainees like Nurse Practitioners for the Department of Psychiatry at UCSD and Maternal Health Fellows from the Scripps FM Residency program. He has implemented innovative BH programs and services for the communities served. These include the SAMHSA Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic [CCBHC] clinic for SMI and co-occurring SUD disorders patients, Reproductive mental health services, IECMH [Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health], and SUD services in urban and rural areas through MAT-PDOA grant. In March 2021, Dr. Mishra provided leadership overseeing design and delivery of mental health services for 3200+ unaccompanied minors from 11 countries in Central and South America, housed at the San Diego Convention Center. Dr. Mishra also currently serves on the San Diego County Behavioral Health Advisory Board and the advisory board of Southwest Key-Refugee  and Migrant Technical Assistance Center.
